Eight Ways to Evaluate a Contractor

Be sure that the contractor:

  • 1.) Carries general liability insurance
  • 2.) Carries Workers Compensation on employees
  • 3.) Provides a list of sub-contractors
  • 4.) Has a written safety plan
  • 5.) Reads trade magazines and manuals
  • 6.) Schedules their workload & project scope
  • 7.) Speaks in plain language
  • 8.) Is a member of an association
*Always verify this information by seeing written proof.

This information is important because if the contractor’s employee gets hurt on your property and the contractor does not have proper Insurance or Workers Comp, that employee can sue your insurance for medical bills and damages.
